The Next Generation varieties have natural late blight (a disease that damages and kills plants) protection caused by “Phytophthora infestans”. Late blight spores must "climb mountains" to infect plants, higher mountains slow them down. The Next Generation varieties, with 5 resistance genes, create these mountains of varieing hights.
